I still think Old Man zangetsu still inhabits Ichigo even if quincy and hollow were both ripped away. when hollow was being ripped, we see his mom and not old man zangetsu. that's a clue i think. I think old man zangetsu was in actuality Ichigo's shinigami power all along and he used his mom's part, the quincy and the hollow as step in swords. Ichigo believed them to be his true powers therefore his mind and will believed this, and seeing as how he merged his blade accordingly believing old man zangetsu and the hollow to be a part of his power, old man Juha Bach post absorbing Mimi Hagi sama and the soul king, would see all probable futures of this and he probably sees as Ichigo thought, which is his inner self is indeed a par of the quincy, when in actuality its not, it's his shinigami. I could be wrong though but that's my feeling.

If OMZ is to be believed then he was the avatar of Ichigo's Quincy powers and was suppressing his real Shinigami powers. So this might be the first time we see his REAL shinigami powers.

If old man zangetsu has all of Juha's memories then he knows the almighty power would easily see through and crush any potential future Ichigo can think of. Remember, Bach attacked not just Ichigo but also his I can do and the futures tied to those. Old man zangetsu would have known that Bach would have seen Ichigo's futures and see his quincy power as the main power in the mix between the quincy and hollow power. Mostly what I was talking about was a bit of Q&A from the second databook where a lot of information is censored out for spoilers but knowing what we know now must say something like:
"Rangiku who was assistant captain at the time was a candidate to be promoted to captain but a lot of stuff happened and in the end it was Toshiro Hitsugaya as a third-seat that was promoted to captain." there's still a lot I don't fill confident in filling in but it does lead to the idea that she was on her way to be promoted but Hitsugaya may have impressed more with his potential and was picked instead.

All of the characters in bleach are either one dimensional or not interesting or varied enough to care about(chad and orihime are the worst at this) The battles consist of dull, powerup page spreads ping ponging a a few back and forth blows that end in a chapter. Seeing how her friends were all dead it seemed to be the best option, but apparently they were revealed not to be. She didn't need to be a main character, but something on the same tier that Rukia and Renji have both been in the later arcs.
All that screen time to build Nel as a character seemed to be a waste of time since it didn't develop on anything aside from giving Ichigo +1 friend. Something that he earned from others in half the episodes.

Wrong. Both have been with Ichigo three times as longer than Nel and have developed a strong bond which has been shown throughout the entire series.
Sure there was a lot of bonding moments between her and Ichigo, but that only existed in 1/4th of the arc. Sure there could've been a human and hollow development throughout Ichigo's normal life, but it defeats the purpose of hollows.
In the end Nel is just the obligatory late-in-the-series loli character, like Wendy is for Fairy Tail.

People who really loved early, SoL Bleach are probably the ones who enjoyed the Fullbringer arc. SS arc was pretty good by shounen standards but I was a little disappointed at the series going in that direction so the Fullbringer arc was a return to some of the things that made me fall in love with Bleach.
If you think the SS arc was the high point of the series, like a lot of people on /a/ and apparently the Nips, then Fullbringer was probably shit to you.

Not him but his comment about Nel points to something that's off with Kubo's writing in general. He devotes too much time to side characters and expanding the cast without really developing most of them much. You get introduced to dozens of characters but very few feel fleshed out. When he does attempt to flesh them out its usually with cheap melodramatic mid-fight flashbacks.

I dropped Naruto a long time ago and obviously keep up with Bleach so I prefer the latter but I wouldn't be surprised if this is true.
I keep following this series because I'm invested already and I much prefer Kubo's aesthetic and some of his world building and concepts but you're right that the power up stuff is absolute trash. Most of the decent fights tend to come from the side characters who have more creativity in their abilities and who are more disposable while Ichigo's fights have usually bored me, especially when he fights the last boss of the arc(ButterflAizen and Yhwach in particular). Also I prefer series where the main character's power level isn't too far ahead of hs comrades making them more useful. In Bleach Ichigo's original comrades, Uryuu, Orihime, and Chad, are near useless and so are most of the Shinigami at this point with the notable exceptions of Byakuya, Zaraki, and based Mayuri.

Mayuri is the one character who I believe fits the turn based style of combat Kubo loves because his abilities are a window into his personality in a way that's more effective than it is with the other characters. The drug he used on Szayeloporo was neat and I thought the Demon Womb power up was awesome in both its ability and aesthetic.

Even though I ship IshiHime I wouldn't mind this. Something about the daughter and ultimate creation of the Shinigami Mengele getting with a Quincy who's grandfather was murdered by said Shinigami seems right to me as weird as that sounds.
If those two can set their past aside and get together it would seem like a step towards closing the age old feud. Almost like a political marriage meant to foster peace that came about organically during war.

That's because he knows it's most profitable showing side characters together just enough to get the shipfags on board but never lay anything in stone.
Remember that time Uryu and Orihime were alone in Soul Society just long enough for him to grab and save her from an attack? Followed immediately by teasing with Nemu? Everybody in Bleach hangs out together just long enough to cover some shipping cliches, and then it goes nowhere. Some of it didn't catch on, but not from a lack of trying. Like Chad and Rukia briefly teaming up to fight a Hollow, and their tactic was Chad holding her.
It's a pattern that was there since the beginning. If anybody ever enters an official relationship, like Isshin, Ryuken, or even Byakuya, the spouse is already dead to free them up.

Maybe a sequel to bleach is really happening. There is no way Yhwach's going to lose within four to six chapters. Ichigo still needs to get his resolve and powers back. He also needs to get a new Zanpakto. Then he needs to go to the portal and actually find a way to defeat Yhwach and make sure he stays dead. There is also the question of who would replace him as the Soul King and the epilogue.
If 74 is the final volume then either everyone dies or we get a sequel.

I really hope so. There is no way in hell that the final battle lasts 5 chapters, Kubo is the king of dragging. But i'm really surprised that Jump is letting Kubo having a continuation, part of me wish that the follow up gets published on Weekly Young Jump. I want a Bleach seinen.

I also think its because Kubo enjoys designing new characters and having them engage in creative banter. Its good for setting the stage for an expanded cast but he never delivers and just keeps creating more and more characters until you have dozens and dozens of characters, sometimes with a couple having similar designs and personalities, all being somewhat shallow and engaging in melodramatic and/or humorous banter in between explaining their ridiculously complicated powers.

I had another dream about Bleach, and Rukia in particular.
Rukia, Renji and I were on a mission, running towards our target in some urban area. Rukia was on my right, Renji was on my left (my hate for him permeates even my subconscious it seems). We were chatting along the way, and I asked Rukia whether she had a boyfriend or crush. She replied hastily something along the lines of "No, I don't have a boyfriend in the real world". I immediately caught on and replied "Nobody said anything about the real world". At this point I think she sped up and ran ahead of us, because the next thing I remember is running up to her to grab her from the waist, lifting her up and demanding an answer. I think she was blushing. The dream ended after this. Maybe Renji clonked the back of my head or something.
I think this was the first time I ever had a real conversation with her in all of my dreams.
