The only problems it has is the CGI and some of the QUALITY, but the OST was fucking fantastic and it captured the feeling of the series pretty well.

Not really. Also it's the first episode, they had to cover what was generally going on in Black Swordsman + Lost Children, the pacing will defintiely slow down now with Tower of Conviction.

Like what? The one thing this episode tried (and succeded) to establish was Guts's personality, and his abnormal daily life post-Eclipse. They also set up other lore shit, like the prophetic/fate side of things (Schierke at the start), and the way elves are seen by common people.

Kind of, yes. There's no need to show Schierke at this point, but they still did. Black Swordsman and Lost Children got the knife so they're combining different scenes together. But the worst thing here is Puck, since they're cutting out most of Black Swordsman and Lost Children, how the fuck will he develop alongside Guts? Those are like the MAIN FUCKING ARCS where we only see Guts and Puck together! Later on, Puck acts like they've been together fighting apostles for a long time now. They can't give him that attitude anymore, because it'll never happen. We'll be thrown right into the Conviction arc. Pre-turnip Puck is getting axed for the most part, which is shit.

Japanese aren't good enough with 3D yet, they constantly go overboard with the panning and rotating cameras.
They actually have limited 3D animation, which is something completely retarded in of itself because the inbetweens are automatically generated between key frames.
I can't believe they didn't learn any lessons on the movie trilogy, which wasn't too bad but this is just several steps down in terms of quality in every front. Specific scenes during fighting were just incomprehensible.
Framing, pacing, animation and even the soundtrack was frankensteined from the old anime and movies.

First episode was, all in all, pretty bad. The CGI was painful to watch, there were a few mistakes in the sounds, and some stuff was changed from the manga.

If I had to rate the 1st ep, I'd give it a 5.5/10, and the OP was alright.

As far as anime quality goes? Its pretty damn amazing for something animated compared to something drawn to be read in still pictures. If it was animated literally the same exact quality then I'd say the anime quality was better just because of how much more work would go into that.

I can honestly say I don't mind the CG. Don't get me wrong, it does look really ugly, really often, but so long as the story and dialogue are there from the books, I can definitely handle the shitty CG.
That being said, I was incredibly disappointed that they skipped the entire Black Swordsman Arc and the Lost Children chapter. It felt like such a missed opportunity for them (including Miura) to go back and polish the Black Swordsman up to make it as great as other arcs like Conviction. It also seems like a mistake since Conviction happens chronologically right after Black Swordsman, and we got the Golden Age movies already as a sort of prequel. All-in-all, I'm disappointed on pretty much every front. CG aside, I was hoping this would be the chosen one.

I liked it, no it's not a 10 out of 10 but I'm not a fat autistic basement dweller so I'm not triggered by problems here and there.
Voice acting was good, Opening was nice, I'd say about 65% of the 3D was passable, all of the 2D was amazing.
Overall I'd give it a 7/10
I hope that they do what most anime do and fix a lot of stuff for blu-Ray release.
