Why do people seem to thing being half Super Saiyan or anything less makes the characters supposedly weaker? It's a dominate gene which means you either have it or you don't. It's the same thing with the Sharingan in Naruto. A good example of a character being weaker from being a supposed half breed would be Inuyasha.
Half saiyans were always meant to be stronger than full blooded saiyans because of greater potential due to the mixed genes. This is why Gohan and Trunks were originally meant to surpass their aging fathers

That's not true. Pan is a full but she just sucks. Gohan and Trunks surpassed their dads for a while but that's because thay were able to strain with stronger enemies than they ever did and learn their dads fighting styles and techniques to make it even as they grew up.

F. Trunks was able to surpass Vegeta, but he never had that "hidden power" thing Gohan had going on for him.
Goten was never particularly special in any way, same with present Trunks. They only mattered when they fused, and Gotenks was nowhere near in power to Vegetto.
Anything about Pan and Bura is GT related, and thus not canon.
The "half-breeds" are stronger began and ended with Gohan.
