I can agree to that. In fact, the story comes off less grimdark than the games, based on the context of the conversation between one of the mercenaries and that redhead female ISA soldier. Then again, it was published in Monthly Shounen Ace.

Jesus I love the games but it looks like it's complete shit. Also the female character seems completely out of place in the universe. The guy is ok but holy shit the girl looks like she's straight out some moeshit and got lost on the battlefield
