I think, believe it or not, that the original audience of Naruto has grown too old to like anything new. For example back when I was 13 and I discovered Naruto, I thought that it was the deepest stuff ever, and as I grew up I started hating everything about it,for example all the edgelord villains. And now we get this 'thing' which I can only describe as a turd trying to capitalize on the popularity of the old manga and trying to keep it relevant.

This. I followed Natural up until just around the time skip/Shippu in the manga. Sad as it was, I was a hardcore Natural x Hinata shipper. I even got one of the stupid display headbands and shuriken. At first I just drifted away and checked in very rarely.
Then, I got even older and grew some fucking taste. Naruto is the definition of shonen shock, and a teen manga trying to seem grown up. It's also unreasonably long and the plot collapses under its own weight as it tried to continue long past the point where it might have held up as decent.
Looking back, it actually was semi decent up until just after the Chunin exams, though that might just be nostalgia talking. I liked that while it had silly shit, there seemed to be actual tactics and intelligence behind the fights, rather than just going full DBZ.
