BEA, BED, and DEC have to add up to 180, so DEC is 120.

The angles of triangle DEC have to add up to 180, so the angle EDC is 180-20-120 = 40.

The first rule applies to get EDB = 100.
>>
>>143491461
there is no way to know DEC is 120 because the only angle you can work out of the 3 with the information given is BEA

actually, here:
so first notice ABC is iscoceles -> BC = AC because A and B are both 80
draw line from C to a new point F
>>
>>143493704

Let angle ACF be x, so that BCF is 20-x. Then, BFC is 80-x, and CFA is 100-x.

Law of Sines on BFC gives (sin80)/CF=(sin80-x)/BC
Law of Sines on AFC gives (sin80)/CF=(sin100-x)/AC

But AC=BC since ABC is isosceles, so (sin100-x)=(sin80-x)

So x=10
>>
You fags we had this in a thread like 2 days ago. The real answer if it's drawn to scale is ~65-70 degrees, however it's impossible to solve with just geometry since the picture needs to list one more angle to be solvable.

>>143493765

Actually, that last step wasn't even necessary - here is the 2nd to last step.

We can easily calculate BEA=30 just by using triangle properties. Now, let alpha (I'm gonna call it a) be angle AED, the one we want to find. Since it is easy to calculate AEC=150, that means DEC=150-a.
>>
>>143493878

Now, not that CBD=BCD=20. So isosceles, so BD=DC.

Law of sines on EDC: sin (150-a)/DC=sin (20)/ED
Law of sines on BDE: sin(30+a)/BD=sin(20)/ED

But BD=DC, so 150-a=30+a
a=90
>>
>>143493944

*note that CBD=BCD=20

I think that's right... as not to scale as it looks, there seems to be nothing wrong with the proof.

That said, I could have not drawn any extra lines, and went straight to law of sines and that would be a very simple problem.

It's not that there's no solution, however there's no way to discern a specific value because there's no way to split the highlighted angles.

However if you attempt to trial and error by inserting a specific value and solving from it, you'll find that most appropriate values will actually be functional. The answer is some range but I'm too lazy to specify what, presumably anything that would actually fit in the overall 150 degree angle.

>>
We need Mr. Feynman.
I'm sure he would find a very clever way to solve this.
>>
>>143495274
Label the point where they all cross in the middle F
Call length AB 1 unit
(Sin 50)/1=(sin 70)/BF=(sin 60)/AF
Do the similar thing for all triangles baring CDE and DEF
You now know the lengths DF and EF
Using the cosine rule to find ED
(ED)^2=(DF)^2+(EF)^2-2(DF)(EF)cos 50
You can now use (Sin 50)/(ED)=(sin alpha)/(DF)

or alpha = arcsin ((Sin 50)(DF)/(ED))
>>
>>143494016
>>143494149
The solution here is wrong. DFA = FAB because parallel lines, but in his answer they don't.

>/a/ can't into math.

There is no answer
>>
>>143490984
There is no solution for this because the numbers are made up gobbledygook. Which means that at no time can angles be similar because if we base our values on reality the triangles would not come out such as they are and therefore the total figure is unknown.

In short the total figure would not come off as a triangle and therefore it cannot be solved.
