Is there a term for when a manga starts by showing a part that happens much later on in the story?

In what way? If it's just hinting or imagery, it's just foreshadowing, otherwise probably >>143489524

It's not in medias res if they rewind.
Do you guys like this technique? It feels like a cheap trick to hook you into a shit story sometimes. But it can also be very hype to look forward to the reasons things happen the way they do.

As in, in makes a promise and never delivers, or even when it actually gets up the scene it showed in the beginning? Because I don't see how it could trick you in the latter case.
But anyway, Spirit Circle doing this allowed the first chapter to give a more accurate view of what the story will be about since the given premise sounded generic as fuck.
Gurren Lagann did it to show how crazy things were gonna be, even if the scene in the beginning wasn't actually accurate to events that would happen.
In general, you could be in a situation where any non-spoilery premise you give sounds generic, and this technique lets you show that it's not.

If they never rewind then there was never any other beginning to begin with. Shin Mazinger's first episode took place chronologically during its last.
