But that's literally the entire point anon? Instead of heading out for some grand adventure like every other fucking series in this genre does. Kazuma and his party does the exact opposite, staying in the beginner town because they are a bunch of lazy scumbags.
Most of the excitement comes from the fact that they are actively trying to avoid trouble, and yet either due to his parties stupidity, Aqua's nature as a doom magnet, or some odd coincidences, trouble ends up finding its way towards them.
And my original post might have been a bit misleading. There is a plot, it's just really in the background and you won't really notice it, until you figure out that none of the events in the story are as random as they first appear. Everything that happens is actually quite cleverly interconnected, but this isn't made into a forthright fact. It's not exactly a top tier plot by any means, but it exists.
But again, you're free to have your own opinion. You gave it a fair shot, and that's really all that can be expected of you. Glad to see you at least got a small amount of fun out of it.

To its credit though; this is one of the better CONTEXTUALIZED extended fanservice sequences I've seen.
More often than not, there is extremely loose character/plot justification for one of these sequences, and in the smaller set of cases where they ARE; they usually follow the format of shy MC sitting back flustered as these things happen because the girls decided to collaborate this one time etc...
Not saying konosuba is the only one to ever do this, HYE is one of the first similar ones that comes to mind for me. But all in all, I think as far as fanservice goes, this did a good job of also kind of being character-oriented comedy and sol as well.
