Thing about Western art is that, in most cases not all, the features will often be a lot more rounded, especially for noses. Not saying Japs don't do it, but it's more of a less than anime kind of nose, if that makes sense.
Their features are often wider and looks more like a western cartoon if anything. There's also a sense of realism like with the creases of facial features often ignored by most anime. Western artists also go for more of a gradient coloring to add on to those realistic features instead of solids. It's why glamour shots of girls like Harley Quinn can look so good because it's a medium westerners just know how to deal with. Maybe next time I go to artist alley at a con I'll snap pictures because it's really easy to spot.
