1. The only high tier fighter with a weak quirk that we have seen is Stain, and he had to ambush heroes one by one to be successful.
2.He never really believed that he could be a hero before Allmight told him. Remember, that whole bit with his mother, how she regreted saying "I'm sorry " then what Deku really wanted to hear is "You can be a hero "? I get what you're saying to an extent though. as childish as it seems, that general shounen mentality can be very useful to establish a competitive mindset, regardless of what it is you're aiming for. eg, HxH is helping me think about school much more strategically, seeing grades as targets (im 18 lads i swear) and studying becomes like gathering information on the target, revision like forming a plan of attack.
