I was at Licensing Expo during the week with a press badge. I have info on the Ghost in the Shell movie and One Punch Man movie.
Ghost in the Shell:
Heavily influenced by Stand Alone Complex but is generally gonna follow similar story beats to the first movie and follow some of the themes surrounding Motoko's character.
They're gonna go for the route of Edge of Tomorrow and have the characters based on those from GiTS, not directly adapting them. So instead of Motoko its just The Major. The same with Batou but he wouldn't reveal the name to me. The race issue will be addressed in the movie, Motoko's body is just a mechanical body and she doesn't remember what she originally looked like. Well, it depends on how the anime/manga industry will react to the increased Hollywood interest.
In the worst case scenerio, it goes like the western comics industry, where the high pop culture status currently being enjoyed by the biggest companies in the business made them stop giving a fuck about quality control, focusing on being trendy instead. This is quite unlikely due to the cultural differences between the US and Japan.
In the best case scenerio, we get a couple of alright movies, maybe even some great ones, and a new interest for importing mangas and anime, specially old-school classics like it happend with those classy Tezuka series releases that happend a while ago.

Since when does that matter? Nobody in the west had heard of All You Need is Kill yet they managed to make a pretty successful movie with it as a base. If the core concept is great and marketable then they can roll with it and sell it on its own merits as a story rather than relying on the name pulling in people like they did with Dragon Ball Evolution or this Ghost in the Shell project.
