Why do people dislike Charlotte so much?
I fucking loved this anime. Good animation/art, music, interesting characters and plot. And it even got a climax at the last episode and a happy end. It's so rare these days in shonen anime that MC actually ends up with a girl (best girl even).
The only thing that I could criticize about this anime is that the search for all of the powers in the world could have been spread out over a couple more episodes.
I don't. People just hate it because it outsold whatever trash they were watching that season.
>>143330590

This. Charlotte was a good anime.tfw season 2 never
>most upvoted reviews on MAL for Charlotte have 3/10 score
Since when is MAL more hipster than /a/?
I liked it too, Nao is the best 2015 girl
I found it highly entertaining. The story was either good or so bad it's good. It was never boring. It might not be a masterpiece and it could have been way better but I don't regret watching it.

I liked it, but it wasn't amazing. It's pretty much wasted potential: the anime.
Disregarding the fact that they blatantly copied Angel Beats, the pacing was completely off again. The last episode ALONE could have been an entire season on it's own.
I forgot when the plot twist happened but it was like what, episode 8? And after the twist is when 90% of the actual story happened, which was squeezed into 4-5 tiny episodes.
They should have made the anime 24 episodes long AT LEAST. Then it would have actually been amazing.
>>143330590
I didn't hate it.
It was just average in every aspect though.
I didn't regret spending my time watching it but it's not something I'll remember years from now.
Personally, I tuned out with the whole arc of"oh my sister died so I was super depressed. But a girl kicked me in the face so I'm good now!"
It was a shot at really good character development and they royally fucked it up

Once you grow older and get some experience in life, you will realize that other people genuinely helping you when you're at the bottom is extremely rare and should be hold at high value. It was actually a good reason for falling in love with tomori, unlike most shows where it's "oh because the girl is cute and/or has big tits".
>>143330856
>it's similar to another anime so it must be lazy and a cash grab

>>143331399
But you are a fucking idiot for thinking something is a lazy cash grab just because it's similar to something else.
Charlotte's high production values alone should have clued you in that maybe they weren't phoning it in.
I hated it because the little sister was annoying, it was brutally obvious she was going to die and the show would get up it's own ass about the melodrama and edginess surrounding her death, not to mention the fucking cunt MC was an idiot, and the pacing fucked itself in the last few episodes. the dialogue was almost naruto levels of corny poetic waxing garbage, similar to Angel Beats.
Gotta admit though, watching MC-kun turn into Punished Snake at the end was pretty funny.
Other than that, the show was just fucking boring.

I didn't move shit. "Production values" just doesn't mean what you think it means. Case in point, OPM's animation director stated that the show's budget was average.
>>143330590
It was a good show that could have been better, but /a/ is contrarian
>>143331682
What? I'm talking about this one. She was much more lively at first, sure, but in the end she still resorted to just sitting around doing nothing but cry all day because "it couldn't be helped" and had to be dragged by force.

Because it was riddled with plot holes, plot hooks that went nowhere or weren't expanded on, and other such flaws that fly over the heads of the average redditor.
I want Aniplex shills to leave.
>>143331599
Nope, go look up what it actually means. It is a demographic in the sense of a literal label used by manga publishers. Note the "manga," that's important. Adaptations of manga get called by the source material's demographic, but anime originals never have demographics (no, if it's adapted to manga that demographic does not apply retroactively to the anime).
>>143331721
>cutting corners with digital coloring to save budget
>high production value
>action anime comparable to drama anime
>>143331798
Ohhh, i'm stupid sorry.
I was thinking of Plastic Nee-san.
I enjoyed it quite a bit, but near the end it clearly had some pacing issues that could have been alleviated if it had been a 22-24 episode series instead of 13. It tried cramming just a bit too much into the last few episodes and felt like they just had to dial back the bit about their brother and his backstory, plus the part with Yu going around the world should not have just been one episode.
Angel Beats sort of had the same problem, but while I like both I'd have to say Charlotte was better just because it at least felt like it told the whole story it wanted to tell, just a bit faster than would have been ideal, whereas Angel Beats felt like a story with giant chunks just torn out of it to fit the episode count.
>>143331836
Everything is digitally colored now. Cel animation was was dropped over a decade ago. Are you for fucking real?
>action anime comparable to drama anime
Because that's totally what I was doing. Or maybe I was making the point that production values are not necessarily indicative of the budget. If they were, then The Simpsons ought to be the best looking animation on TV.
>everything I hate is Reddit or shills
I hope this is cheap b8 because the alternative is too banal to imagine.
>>143331866
I honestly think AB flowed better though. Even if it was missing chunks, what it had was at least more satisfying than "lol go steal all the powers nigga".
Honestly, what I really wanted from Charlotte was the love story side of things, and they skipped over most of it. Powers should have been a backdrop, not the reason for the show, and you could still have a bittersweet ending due to power misuse or something.
>>143331882
>production value is my own subjective opinion

>>143331964
Once again: it does not mean what you fucking think it means. It does not mean the amount of money used. Anime budgets average around $150,000-200,000 per episode while American shows are between three to ten times more, yet they look like fucking garbage. And everyone sucked OPM's dick for being "high budget" even though the budget was average.

>Shoehorned villains
Both the yandere girl and the terrorists.
>Stupid time travel rules.
Yuu remembering a timeline which doesn't exist because it was rewritten by his brother.
Not going back in time before his brother started using his powers and losing his sight.
>Irrelevant characters.
Glasses and Idol are the worst offenders.
>Stupid planning decisions.
Sending Yuu to fight terrorists alone without any back up.
>>143332638
What was the story behind that? Why did Yusarin exist? The show didn't need 12 more episodes of MC stealing powers. It just needed to cut Yusarin and the episodic shit then it'd have more time for pacing.
>>143332895
Maeda doesn't actually want to write plot, he just wants to compose music and make baseball episodes.
>mfw not a single mention of imouto
>>143332945
This so much
The flashback episode where MC went through the facility using all of the super-kids powers to get to his brother and use his time travel was great. A lot of the other stuff was pretty forgettable.
It was okay beforethe sister died and they started timelooping.
If it had just stayed as "kids from this club keeping looking for kids with superpowers and learn more about each other in the process", it would have been much better.

It had potential to be great but the last few episodes fucked it up. It had too much edge.
but I can understand why newfags like you love it. I mean, I used to think Mirai Nikki was the best anime when it was airing, then people pointed out the flaws for me and I felt like the dumbest person in the world.
>>143330590
>Why do people dislike Charlotte so much?
wasted great character designs thanks to forgettable story line. not to mention plotholes everywhere.
>>143333604
Nao is literally the only girl in the show with significant screen time.
I want to fuck Nao.
1. Horrible Pacing
The first like 5ish episodes are devoted to one off adventures where they meet a new person and take care of their powers. This would be fine, except that the show wanted to do an enormous plot with only 13 episodes. So they wasted time on one off stories that don't matter in the end. This makes the rest of the show extremely rushed. His sister dies. Next episode, he's in a deep depression and has a drug addiction. Then he's fine in the next episode. Recovery takes time, making this subplot ridiculous. Then they get to the actual main plot of the show, but they only have about four episodes to do it. It's incredibly rushed, and could have used about ten more episodes just for the world tour.
2. Uninteresting or Underdeveloped or Underused Characters
The main girl is very very bland. Nothing interesting about her. The two classmates who they work with at the start are cool, but they are completely irrelevant less than half way through the show. Most of the other characters are fine, but there wasn't any time to get to know them.
3. Nonsensical powers.
Powers should come with tradeoffs and limitations. However, these should not be completely random tradeoffs and limitations that are unrelated to the power. Losing your eyesight because you go back in time makes no sense. Having to be wet in order to use your mutant finding powers makes no sense (I could be wrong on this one, I feel like there was some sort of explanation, but it has been a while)
4. Random shipping out of nowhere
The MC and main girl have no romantic connection at all, but they are forcefully shipped together. There's no reason for either of them to like the other.
Yes the animation and music are good. I liked the OP a lot. But that's like wrapping a pile of shit in fancy wrapping paper and giving it a nice frilly bow.
What killed it for me was the last 2-3 episodes. It just felt so over the top that any tension that was built up between the episodic beginning episodes and the plot twists just felt destroyed. Not to mention Yuu going to every fucking country and fighting terrorists? Seriously? It just felt like this was the beginning of the end for Okada. And I used to like her before this.
>>143330590
Help! I want to fuck a pizza sauce!
I hate how they just decided that taking everyone's powers away was the "right" thing to do and everyone just goes along and they are treated like the good guys. in the last episode MC is straight up an Xmen villain
>>143334979
I agree with everything except the random shipping. they spent long enough together in the first place for them to like each other. then after time travel MC's feelings were strong enough to reach nao, who then did something similar to him after he lost his memory
>>143335110
>Okada
What?
>>143330590
The first episode was good.
I want the story of the Yuu we saw on episode one. The first fuck up was that it became mildly boring boring but still internally consistent until pizza sauce, and after that, the whole thing was a trainwreck.
They dropped the whole deal about powers having a downside as well. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, but when you have generic powers, you have to deal with the fact that nobody on the writing staff has any idea how to incorporate them into the story effectively, so we're left with a ton of plot conveniences and poorly planned out scenes.
It could have been good. The first episode had potential. That's why it's so disappointing.
>>143330590
I had high hopes for the show but despite a good start by the end it goes off the rails with all the plot holes, lack of setting and character development outside of the main couple, apparent lack of direction until the end, and I could go on about this. At least Nao was GOTS.
>>143334979
The eye thing was because he can only travel back in time when light enters both of his eyes.
Doing it too much ruins his eyes and eventually he loses the ability because either his eye is physically damaged by his power or his optic nerve is, or both.
Yuu lost the ability to use it because one eye was cut, but that whole scene was a fucking mess and Frodo could rant about it all the way to Mordor.
>>143335110
Charlotte wasn't Okada. It was Maeda
>>143330590
I don't hate it. It's just that it could've been a lot better. Wasted potential.
It went to shit after the mc's sister died. Not sure why.
They wanted to make 'x-men with kids' but ended up making 'Heroes: Reborn'.
Should have gone for Heroes Season 1 instead.
>>143335365
THIS
One of the biggest letdowns for this show as that Yuu in episode one (actually really all of episode 1) was really interesting. Not the most unique character ever but compared to the stock protag he turned into afterwards, someone who was this much of a dick was actually kind of interesting
They rushed the ending and it just became fucking stupid.
Everything before was pretty enjoyable.
Like the last episode is a big fucking part and they completely messed it up.
That fucking courage garbage, JESUS CHRIST.
>>143335584
>It went to shit after the mc's sister died. Not sure why.
-They started trying to have a plot when everything before that was SoL "help the kid of the week" shenanigans
-This essentially meant those last 6 episodes weren't worth your time
-The plot in question was IMMENSELY dense in terms of subplots as they introduce a bunch of characters as well as time travel into the mix
-As a whole it just wasn't very interesting. They tried to give it an edge but it's a goddamn long jump between "X-Men in japanese high school" to "Heroes/time travel/Punished Yuu"
That being said, this episode when he goes full DARKNESS was kind of amazing
>>143330590
The drug episode was good but they rushed reviving the pizza sauce too quickly and the two episodes the criminals showed up and that guy got killed was fucking awful. Last episode was fun at least but their relationship was not really developed enough for the whole confession thing.
Hey remember her?
She was a thing for an episode
>>143335798
Why did she go blind again?
>>143335798
She was also wasted potential. They should have introduced her earlier.
Much like Angel Beats, everything could have been fixed if this was 24/26 episodes.
One of the biggest problems is that the last episode was just one episode. That realistically should have been an entire season by itself or the events earlier spread out over a longer series that way you can have that last episode be a thing on it's own
Pizza Sauce deserved to die.
>people actually thought Charlotte was good
Yeah, it could have been good if it was 26 episodes long.
Heck we didn't even know why the other guy called his ability teleportation even if it was more like super speed
>>143338315
Wasn't that a sub mistake? I mean his power being teleportation.
