Fixed. It's faithful to the source material, and changes it makes are usually for the good. But terrible animation and strict following of the source just doesn't work in constraints of a 20 minute episode.

They totally fucked up Von Karma, in my opinion. In the game, he's this larger-than-life ace prosecutor who hasn't taken a single loss in his whole career, stoic and full of poise, only grinning when he has the upper hand.
In the anime, he's a dick dastardly chucklefuck half the time with nowhere near the impact.

Turnabout Samurai had a very pleasant adaptation. My only problem with it was that they fucked up Gumshoe saving Phoenix and Vasquez coughed the truth up with much more dignity.
Turnabout Goodbyes forgot to include all the hype that case had. Instead of this big boss battle you feel like reading Ace Attorney Wiki.

Go play the game again. He is all talk and no action. Once you actually face him in court he is not that smart. In fact back then I was disappointed because the game tries to sell you the idea that he is an ace prosecutor but in reality he just cheats and glares at the judge to scare him.
I don't understand why they made this show.
Fans of the series won't like it, because why would they want to watch what they have already played. With LN and manga people might want to see the characters animated, this anime hardly had any animation at all.
And it's unlikely to make people who didn't play the game suddenly interested in it, due to its low production value.

I've played it a few times, and you do chip away at him, but he never really loses his cool until he gets uncovered. The fact that he wasthe true criminal in DL-6 was a twist; you at first think he's just doing his job like Edgeworth would.
They have him sneaking little grins almost right away. I would have preferred if he had remained more intimidating.
I don't know if I'd want to see how they'd handle Rise from the Ashes, since I love that chapter so much.

It's a quick recap of first trilogy. Some really stubborn fans might enjoy it, personally I would've let a lot of its plot and characterization mistakes slide if it didn't look worse than pachinko animations.

No, it's not that the adaptation is bad, it's more that it's simply more fun to play a mystery/puzzle-solving type of game than to watch it. The anime-original stuff goes to show what happens when they stop treating it like a game and more like an anime.

What I mean is that it's possible to write an involving mystery for television, even adapting novels for it, such as with Poirot. I don't feel the writers properly applied the little gray cells on this adaptation.

Not when you've already know the 'twist'. A mystery is fine but when you've already played the game, watching it becomes a chore. There's no suspense, no drama, no sleuthing, you've already know what's going to happen. Hence why the adaptation was flawed from the start.
At this point, you're just watching it for the interaction but dialogue lifted from a game and directly transposed into an anime just feels clunky due to the different medium used. Hence why the anime-original stuff is so much better. It's something we've haven't read before and it's specific content that was made for its medium.
