Detective Conan is the japanese equivalent of Murder She Wrote. Dumb, short, extremely simple murder plots. As far as jap murder mystery manga go, Detective Academy Q is far better.
Agatha Christie is a better murder mystery writer than anyone in japan though.

I haven't read/watched it since a while but I remember the first 500 anime episodes were really good (until that FBI member "died"); then, fillers and the animation completely went to shit. Satou-Takagi episodes, Mouri's lawyer waifu cases, one-two hours specials and obviously BO eps are the best.

I read like 200 chapters before I kinda stopped paying attention SINCE EVERY FUCKING CASE has the same pattern and only ~2% advance the main plot.
So after 200 chapters I stopped reading for 2-3 months and read another 200 or so and so on
