So having read this series for a while, there's something that's really been bothering me for a while. I guess most Jojo fans just brush this off since it's a staple of the series but...does Araki's fetish for killing off his characters bother anyone else? I feel like he does it just to fuck with his fans sometimes. When Johnathan died, it was shocking. The main protagonist dying. It was a twist that I enjoyed even though I liked Johnathan.
But then he does it again with Caesar. And after that the body count keeps rising. It is annoying to see manga like Fairy Tail where no one ever dies but there is such a thing as killing off too many characters. I think the ending to part 6 and "He would later die of a cold" are some of the biggest middle fingers an author has given to fans of characters I've seen in a long time.

It's fascinating that even knowing exactly what's going to happen, I'm still amazed at how exciting it is. Plot summaries don't do characterization justice. On paper, Iggy looks pointless, but reading/watching, he's got an amazing fucking fight scene that isn't ruined even when you know the outcome.

The bigger problem I have is I never know when to take a death seriously, aften Advol's first "death".
Then Joseph. Then Koichi. Then Rohan, Okuyasu, Jotaro, Mista, Trish, Polnareff, Jotaro (again), Gyro...and I'm sure I'm missing a few. After a while, the deaths lose meaning, no matter how attached to the characters you are.
I didn't even know Hot Pants was dead when she was pushed off the train until SBR was over. I thought she was just injured and she'd be back.

I've always wondered why these anime about super popular manga get a budget so shitty the animation has to look like ass 80% of the time. It's the same with dragonball (the new one).
But then again, I guess they started out really well, then declined when the hype and novelty washed away. Part 1 was pretty great animated, and so was the old dbz anime.

Imagine a universe where Part 1 and Part 2 had Stands instead of Hamon or Vampirism. Instead, these Stands had the properties that their characters would originally have.
For example, Jonathan would be taught a breathing technique that summons a Stand that has all the properties of Hamon. Dio Brando would just have a Stand with the properties of vampirism. Speedwagon's Stand would be bound to his hat. No new abilities, just a reimagining.
Most importantly,What would each of their Stand names be?

Where do I start?
The most heinous thing is that you said this in response to a scene that flashed on the screen for less than 10 seconds, meant to be a nod towards future events that only people who read the manga would understand.
Second of all you compared Super and Dragonball Z (and completely neglected to mention the original Dragonball) which is totally unfair due to the HUGE gap in time between when the two were made, as well as DBZ being a straight adaptation of an existing and hugely popular work, and Super riding the high of a possible DB renaissance which ultimately fell sorta flat.
Part 1 was unbelievably short compared to most anime, and was easy to budget for maximum effectiveness, and 2 is in the same boat. They were also both the first adaptation of the new JoJo anime, meaning making a good first impression was super important.
Part 3 was much more difficult to budget due to its legnth, and had piss poor pacing which only exacerbated the issues. Part 4's pacing has been phenomenal so far, with the exception of RHCP 1. It's using its budget where it counts, keeping the most consistently good animation for episodes like Yukako, RHCP 2, and presumably any time Kira would appear.

My animeonly friend skipped part 1, because Jonathan Joestar was everything he hated in an anime protagonist. I was desperate to get someone else in my area to watch Jojo, so I showed him the abridged series to get a general idea of what happened (the series ended right after Zeppeli kicked it), then part 2, and he fell in love with the series thanks to Joseph.
We later watched part 1 when he ran out of new anime to watch. It was worth it to watch him get so disappointed at how little Straizo meant in part 1, as he'd come up with all these ideas about his friendship with the jojos.
