Watch the original three part OVA, anon - Choujin Densetsu Urotsukidouji (1987–1989), not the shitty edited movie. It's a love letter to anyone who can appreciate horror and grotesque art in general.

It has the best animated apocalypse, superb design, old school animation and is just all out insane. I'm dead serious when I say this, but it is every bit as good as the other three or four I mentioned, only a lot different. Pity that neither of the sequels approach the quality of it (or make much sense in context of the first series).
