Critical theory, as the name implies, is meant to criticize. Because western critical theory always evolved the fastest and was the most advanced (largely due to classic liberal ["classic" meaning the non-leftie version of liberalism] philosophies being the most successful in the west), we turned to criticizing our culture the most.
The largest fault and flaw of postmodern though is that through its critique of grand narratives, ideologies and our belief in false reality (simulation), is that it offers NO alternatives or solutions to what it criticizes. So yeah, it diagnoses how we live and perceive and WHAT we live and perceive, but never tells us what we SHOULD be living and perceiving. And the worst thing is, like all philosophies, instead of being contained to academia exclusively, its ideas tend to be politicized. Politicized philosophies lead to revolutions. Revolutions often turn out to make society turn into an even worse shithole.
