I have to agree. Arc-V has pretty much lost its budget entirely, its ratings are plummeting. They haven't even made another Sound Duel because they can't afford to make physical copies of it. Reiji had to be written out since they couldn't afford him. Everyone is getting cut out of duels except for Yuya and Shun, and even Shun had to be semi-kill since they can't afford Nossan. We're leaving Xyz early since they can't afford Edo, and I'm not surprised that eventually they won't be able to afford even Yuya.

The moment everyone knew that Arc-V had dropped the ball was the Yoko duel, and slowly realizing that in Synchro we weren't going to have the Lancers dueling on their monsters via Solid Vision to combat Security on D-Wheels and the lack of character interaction meant the budget was gone. I was disgusted when I learned we weren't going to have Yuya and Yugo duel because I was finally aware that them interacting would advance the plot, and Synchro was nothing but filler. All the Xyz dimension is the death throes of a dying series, desperate to garner attention, but not being able to do it. The anime is dead. Our salvation lies in the manga.

Imo, Arc-V rarely gets outright explicitly awful for as long as other low points in Yugioh's past, but it never really hits highs as high either.
It kind of hovers a little above and a little below (a lot of time a little below, desu) just 'okay'. Normally I automatically lower my standards for children's anime, but how bent on mediocrity (or again, a little below that) Arc-V is makes it somewhat disheartening. There's rarely a feeling of impact or catharsis, or even cheap thrills in the spectacle of a ridiculous doppelganger & dimension plot where one half of them has an inner edgy darkness because reasons.
I'm just hoping the last stretch hits some kind of highs before the series is snuffed out for the next.

Bit too slowly paced for the first 20 eps, but it was really fun and easily my second favorite part of the series, below Maiami Championship, but above Pre-Maiami.

Noh Gil-Bo coming back is simply confirmation that the studio is finally freed up from the movie's production and things are back to normal over there. Riddle me this, if they were having such a prolonged issue with affording voice actors behind the scenes, why would they even consider Edo/Akira Ishida as the legacy character in the first place, instead of a reasonable 2nd choice like Johan or Manjoume?
The logic that it's the seiyuu's costs that are the scourge of Arc-V (rather than poor direction/writing or the shilling nature of the show) has a lot of holes in it by the fact that there were always cheaper 2nd choices available from the very start, since Arc-V's (original) cast would all have been auditioned for.
Also, Arc-V has been riddled with QUALITY more or less its entire run from as early as episode 4.

Well, Dennis developed too, Yugo got his backstory fleshed out, and we grew to understand Tsukikage a fair bit better in that arc, more so that I ever expected. So, that's something too.
And Gongenzaka and Sawatari were always something of comic relief and didn't develop much at all, but even Sawatari showed the effects of his overall character progression by helping to stop the riots during the Yuya/Jack duel, which was nice.

It's both, insofar as a YGO series is concerned. It's awesome the past series are basically represented by dimensions while old characters return. What makes it even better is YGO-specific: summoning methods being from different dimensions. If you knew nothing about Arc-V, the idea of past series and summoning methods being rep'd by dimensions is very interesting. Arc-V executed it horribly in part due to all YGO series being a marketing ploy to sell cards. The shilling screwed with a large part of Arc-V's potential. Then we have the movie. The animation budget was drastically reduced. The combination of a flawed execution due to shilling and bad animation because of a low budget is what has made Arc-V rather underwhelming for what many of us expected. Most of Standard and the final battle of Synchro was executed perfectly. People should've known that Xyz was going to be rather lackluster by episode 100 because all of Heartland is rubble AND the lady that Yuya saved told us that the Resistance was killed off. Also Yuto not being in the flesh for his own dimension was bullshit.
... Noro mentioned that there were less than 3 days left until the Arc Area Project in Xyz. 10 days elapsed during Synchro, and there were 46 episodes of it. That means we should've expected slightly less than 15 episodes of Xyz - which is what we're getting.

So basically, your issue with the series during the synchro portion boiled largely down to: Shilling cards made us spend too much time on duels themselves and as a result of the diminished budget: there wasn't enough time/money to make a lot of those duels enough of a spectacle to balance it out.
Though, I'm largely on the opposite side and rather like how it turned out, I can see where you're coming from with that complaint considering how much visual variety action duels added in standard.

Individually they're not issues. Every YGO has had shilling prioritized over good storytelling, and other series have had somewhat poor animation like 5Ds during the movie. Combining the two just makes the show turn to shit in the eyes of many. I actually enjoy the show and am super hyped for the conclusion to the Edo duel. But then again I'm not an anime connoisseur nor have I watched other YGO series since GX season 1 as a kid. I also love the idea behind the dimensions and dragons.
However, I also think that a lot of the loss of interest is you guys being on these threads 24/7, it naturally makes this show or any show less interesting.
