In Butcher's version they fall to Earth and both end up depressed having lost everything, like you said, Inaho is ostracized by Earth side. Hime marries an old count instead of Cucklein. Slaine was a complete Char clone and Inaho wasn't autistic, but generic protag no. 452865, Aoki was the one who created the characters later. Butcher's ep.12 had Slaine killing Saazbaum and taking hime away, Inaho wasn't shot if I remember correctly .

Funny, I expected someone to say something about SAO. That show was the king of wasted potential. First 3 episodes that fantastically set the tone for the series, and then it completely dropped the ball with episodic episodes that were just him showing off and winning the hearts and panties of cute girls.
I remember watching Robotic;Notes concurrently and being more interested in that show at the time. But they dropped the ball halfway through as well.
