I watched it from the start and all I saw in the threads was sudden disappointment when the series didn't continue at episode 1 quality, confusion at the dropped retarded plot threads, some hope in the form of theories for what was really happening, then dismay at terrible decisions and a pointless ending. The way I see it, the happy ending gave the story some constructive message. If it had ended with something edgy enough to live up to the preceding grimdarkness then that would have been an entertaining spectacle maybe but pointless.
The last episode connects to the beginning when Yura only wanted to make friends. She hung out with some girls but wasn't really able to bond and have fun with them until she moved past that initial neediness to be liked. She only had to go through hell to achieve what other CGDCT make so automatic. There was no instant friendship over sabage/motorcycles/bread/[X gimmick]. That's what makes it a deconstruction of moe SOL and the most intellectual show of its genre.
