One of my N3 reading questions had all answers completely wrong and I was supposed to choose the less wrong one. Actually, the entire test was weird. I felt like I had to adapt my thinking to a bot that was only able to answer based on mockup tests and not by reading what was written in there. Truly dekinai. I do understand better why some 'translators' with N2 and N1 are terrible at it though.

Yeah I don't know about the real test but most of the mockup test stuff seems to basically be about memorizing certain rules they have and choosing the answer that follows those rules, even if in real language the structure might be used more fluidly,or if the usage sounds awkward with that structure.

This is the problem I had btw. You're supposed to fill in the blank with その達成のためには

And then two sentences later they say hey wait actually sometimes you get blessed with good fortunate without having to do shit!
>>
>>143113651
>the "correct" answer to one of the questions makes a passage literally contradict itself

>>143114259
Test yourself by reading Japanese. Pretty much every introductory grammar book/guide includes a lot of example sentences.

>>143114298
Seems like a waste of effort when other sites already exist for that. The top results for "online Japanese kana drill" in Google, for me, is as follows:
kagan.mactane.org/software/kana-drill.html
http://kana.icann.se/
http://www.easyjapanese.org/kanaquiz.html
http://www.easyjapanese.org/kataquiz.html
http://www.kongregate.com/games/akuradani/kana-drill
http://unckel.de/kanateacher/index-en.html

There are probably hundreds of realkana type alternatives.
>>
>>143114533
>In order to achieve your goals, you must put in a lot of work and make plans and shit. And even then sometimes you fail. But, it is true that sometimes you get what you want even without work.

I mean yeah it makes sense grammatically (and the other answers didn't) but it's definitely middle school tier writing.
>>
>>143114609
>but it's definitely middle school tier writing.
Good thing that's not the point then, fuckhead. They probably made the question that way intentionally. You're being tested on what's grammatically correct, not on proper style.
>>
>>143113789

Negroid, your first post you didn't cap anything. How hard is it to think, "Oh, I switched to 日本語, maybe I shouldn't use shift"?
>>
>>143114609
>tier writing
Go back to lit, you fucking idiot. Prosaic text is the basis of written communication, and it is obvious that the text in question was not a piece of poetry or other related creative writing.
>>
>>143114647
It's not about style it's about logical coherence.

But yeah, maybe they did do that on purpose. But it's still stupid and means it isn't testing on meaningful things if it requires you to choose between two wrong things, just based on the way they are wrong.

>fuckhead.
why so angry?

>>143114722

What is it about spergs that the think they know better than everyone else yet are the last to accept reason which contradicts their position? I used to work with a guy like this and it was painful to watch when it got worked up over something entirely retarded, you could almost hear his brain jumping onto the rails without any means of deviation. It is like they zoom right into some pointless detail and lose sight over the overall picture and relevance.

Dude if you think I was the one sperging you have no idea what sperging means.

I've been calm throughout this whole thing. The other side, on the other hand, has gotten quite angry as if they have some personal attachment to the question, and quickly jumped to insults.

You making a passive aggressive statement not directed at anyone trying to show how enlightened you are doesn't make you sound any more mature.

That's definitely not normal for なさい

>>143122663
I really expect you're just reaidng something where everyone speaks some dialect (not kansai) and confused it as common. Honestly it's pretty rude to just ask without actually having any context to show what you're talking about.

800 search results is not a lot, by the way. Consider that something like おかあはん has 20k+
>>
>>143122657
This is a bad idea. You're making the mistake of assuming the translation will be better than the understanding of a total beginner in Japanese who has look up every second word. I mean it's understandable why you would think this, but it's not the case. Just look up everything you don't understand and you'll be fine.
>>
>>143122903
>That's definitely not normal for なさい
No, but slang's not "normal". That doesn't make it invalid. なさい is just more polite and people don't slur it as often.

You don't know japanese. Stop trying to give advice.
>>
>>143121700
>it's used as a counter in japanese
I've never really found a good page that details when the counter is necessary.

In Chinese, its pretty much used any time you specify a specific number of X, or "a (particular) X". Does this logic also follow in Japanese?

I am surprised how many grammar rules carry over, at least for novice purposes. の/的 basically function the same, even for more complex usages, as do に/在
>>
>>143122947
>You don't know japanese. Stop trying to give advice.

And you do? Have you actually seen this frequently? Keep in mind that he didn't just see it once, but claims he has seen it a lot, which means it is probably all from the same author.

Also keep in mind that it is なせ and not なせえ or なせぇ or whatnot.
>>
>>143122903

>800 search results is not a lot

It is when every major verb has similar amounts.
>>
>>143122992
>And you do?
Clearly more than you. There are as many kanji as there are stars in the universe, however; I'm certain nobody actually knows japanese.
>Keep in mind that he didn't just see it once, but claims he has seen it a lot, which means it is probably all from the same author.
Yes, and that doesn't mean the author is wrong for using it. You're literally a JSL applying arbitrary made-up restrictions to slang, What the fuck do you think you're doing?
>>
>>143123047
>Yes, and that doesn't mean the author is wrong for using it.
But it means it is much more likely to be a specific character's speech quirk or a dialect than it is to be "normal' slang.

Anyway have you seen it before or not? What makes you so sure it's not a dialect? Even normal ai->ee is arguably tokyo dialect
It doesn't take any Japanese skill to make a guess.
>>
>「あの、結局夜の世界ってのは何なんでしょうか?」
>「んなこと鹿ケ谷に説明してもらえよ」
>「いやまあ一応説明聞いたのは聞いたんだけど」
What does this third line mean? I feel like there's some idiomatic meaning here because I can't make any sense of it..

"Listening to the explanation, all I could do was listen"
?
>>
>>143123105
>But it means it is much more likely to be a specific character's speech quirk or a dialect than it is to be "normal' slang.
Anon wasn't asking about the rules of japanese. He was asking what something means. "Is this just a less polite version?" "Yes, but it's silly even for slang."

You're merely going on an autistic tirade because I called your japanese skill into question.

>Anyway have you seen it before or not?
Yes, but only in anime!

>What makes you so sure it's not a dialect? Even normal ai->ee is arguably tokyo dialect
Can you quote me on anything that makes that question relevant to me?

>It doesn't take any Japanese skill to make a guess.

>>
>>143122956
the counter is necessary when you're counting something, though I mostly see it in the context of 一個
like if there's one cup noodle left on the shelf so you might tell your friend, それ最後の一個
nipponese has a shit ton of counters though so you are in general less likely to see a specific one incredibly often
>>
>>143123115
I'm fairly certain it just means, "Well, I tried asking them already, but..." however I'm not sure of the exact grammar structure/idiom that is at play either.
>>
>>143123203
I'm claiming that you writing it off as "normal slang" is unfounded. If you just mean "slang" as a catch all term for literally everything that isn't NHK news tier japanese then sure I guess you're technically right but it's still not a good answer.

I ask you this: What type of situations would you would you make that sound change in for なさい? What type of character would do it? These are questions we can easily answer for the normal ai->ee sound change.

>You're merely going on an autistic tirade because I called your japanese skill into question.
You are the only one who keeps bringing this up. Are you okay? Does insulting people's japanese skills while typing only English make you feel powerful? 爆笑

I didn't call it "normal slang". I called it "normal ai->e conversion".

Looks like it's time for you to relearn english.

>I ask you this: What type of situations would you would you make that sound change in for なさい?

>nipponese has a shit ton of counters though so you are in general less likely to see a specific one incredibly often
I would imagine the one you would see most likely (I have not seen any in the two VNs I have been going through, at all) would be 個, the most general marker in Chinese.

Just as a side example, "A cup of ramen" in Chinese could/might be (native speaker chime in?) something like "一杯即食麵", where the 一杯 serves to both specify that quantity of the cups, and to specify that the object being counted is a cup.

In "それ最後の一個", "一個" is just emphasizing the amount. Looking at other sentence examples, in Japanese the counter seems to server as the noun itself quite often, without a further noun being used to specify the specific item being counted.

This reminds of me of adjectives which end in 的, where in Chinese 的 is a construct often employed to make adjectival nouns in the style of の. Meanwhile, 之 has nearly the exact meaning of の and 的 in Japanese and Chinese, for both languages, but its only used in old texts.

It all seems really incestuous from a foreign perspective, but I bet English is looks super-bastardized from a foreign perspective.

Just ramble random stuff that you do everyday, you can even mix it with some shitposting that you see around /a/ if you're lacking some substance:
"Today I woke up at xx:yy, took Z for breakfast, did nothing but study, got bored, took a huge dump that probably gave me hemorroids, went to the computer, stared at a cute girl's image, wondered if it was good to have lewd thoughts about a 2D girl. Went to an imageboard and asked what I needed to write for my blog post and here I am"

I don't know anon, you can get a shittload of things to talk about, I'm always impressed by the lack of imagination from anons that try the lang-8 route. It doesn't even need to be real, you can talk about your chuuni dreams, or an idea you have about politics, your yellow fever, the things you listen to, just improvise.
