Where is the triangle though? So far the only person we know who definetly likes someone is Freyja. Episode 9 made those feelings clear. Mirage on the other hand, we can't freaking tell. Did you watch Frontier? Sheryl was the top dog for most episodes in the first half. Ranka had some moments and came strong in the middle (like Mirage now).
The relationship between Hayate and Freyja is nothing like Alto and Ranka. Hayate flirts with Freyja (winks at her, teases her) while Alto was paternalistic with Ranka, including her role as protector handed to him by Ozma, another big brother rather than her self-appointed knight. Ranka never asked Alto shit about his life unlike Sheryl, she only did in episode 21 for fuck's sake. Freyja immediately asks Hayate about his life and is interested in it just like Sheryl did. This episode he opens up with her about his family. Mirage never asks, she happens to overhear.
