Big Order is quite possibly the most retarded anime in recent memory. The protagonist is a fucking dumb ass with the power to basically control anything yet he continuously is made the bitch of an organization which is literally under his control save for probably one guy. The main girl is just Yuno from future diary but even shittier. The entire story is fucking stupid and makes no sense at all. And I even read the manga up to the most recent chapter that was translated and it's still shit. The group translating it even quit because of how shit it was.
HOW TO FIX KIZNAIVER IN ONLY A FEW STEPS:
Make the setting late-stage capitalism Japan, like 2100. All the worst fears about the slowing birthrate are coming true, and nipland is a nation of hikkis and autists, people addicted to new-age VR facebook and shit. The experiment is now not about something as fucking dumb as world peace, but getting the detached, socially dead society to empathize with real people again.
The Kizu system is not some dumb, flashy, unrealistic, and impractical surgery, but conducted by injecting nanobots into the bloodstream; these nanobots migrate their way into the nerves and sync up with one another to transmit pain. After a few months they run out of power / get chewed up by your immune system / whatever. Much easier to swallow and makes a lot more sense. Get rid of the confetti too.
Make the characters actually unlikable, unreasonable autists - basically just accentuate their personality flaws. So Kacchon is actually legitimately detached, Maki is even more withdrawn and melodramatic, Yuta is a complete narcissist instead of just kind of, etc. (All except Hisomu, take out the S&M part and just make him a hikki. Everyone else stays pretty much the same) Have these people actually spend time (24 eps) working through their problems.
Message of the show is now that the purity of the human mind must be preserved even in the face of absolute control of technology over our lives.

Glad she had this epiphany. I actually like Chidori and think she's a sweetheart all things considered, but even I got ticked off when she reacted the way she did to Katsuhira's heartfelt apology.

I'm not holding my breath but I'm hoping this year marks a turning point towards the realization that sometimes you actually just need to make a decent enjoyable show to make a real return and that drowning your potential audience in marketing can plug holes and elevate a show above some of it's peers in getting more viewership but is far from a guarantee in making a financial hit.
You really don't see much of anything hitting those 15K+ numbers much anymore without some form of critical acclaim and genuine audience appreciation to go with them even with event tickets. I mean fuck Kiznaiver barely managed 1,300 first week altogether with a fucking event ticket and some decent fujo celebrity power on board and it's not like it has a ton of merchandise to make up for that. Crane Game is pretty terrible and Big Order was a clusterfuck.
Kyoukai no Rinne while not terrible just won't die and somehow is getting all the way to 52 episodes.
