No. It's important that you know exactly why Baki acts like he does in Son of Ogre, which is only understood after one reads the Ali Jr arc. Make no mistake, I hate the arc far more than you do - but I also find that that hatred actually helps with coming to terms with Baki's later behavior, and adds an extreme amount of catharsis to Jr's fight against Baki.
Try to keep this thread alive; I'd like to have a functional Baki thread every once in a while.

We've only got Dou 98 in the reserves, since no other volumes are out yet. Working on Grappler and maybe some Kenjin, though. Point is, you're probably not getting more Dou past 98 until v12 is out, so threads will be less common.
Reading Baki for the first time here, I'm really having trouble understanding the state of the manga as it stands, can someone kindly help me out?
I've read "Baki The Grappler (1991)" up to chapter 153, where Yujirou has made a threat against the prime minister, but I can't seem to find any more after that up until chapter 160, and then another skip. Do they not exist? I figured the manga was popular enough to be fully translated.
And in my initial search for Baki I found multiple different series' labelled "Baki the Grappler" that were all different, what order does Baki go in? And whats the best place to read it in the right order? Ty ty /a/ friends

You have to watch both seasons of the TV anime to get the story of baki the grappler because the manga scanlations are way behind. After watching the anime, then you can read New Grappler Bali -> Son of Ogre -> Baki Dou

The original series, Grappler Baki, is 42 volumes long and is only partially scanlated. They made an anime out of this which whilst, not a perfect adaptation, should tell you most of what's going on.
After that we have New Grappler Baki, and Son of Ogre, both of which are fully translated.
Lastly is the currently running Baki Dou, as well as the spin-off manga Scarface.

The manga starts with Baki as champion of the underground arena then has a flashback of Baki, whereas the anime does it in chronological order and starts with kid Baki. Anyway, Yujiro attacking the minister must be about ep 12 or 13. My point is that after Baki and Yujiro's fight there will come a bunch of episodes that cover an arc you already read. Then comes the 2nd season of the anime, subtitled "Maximum Tournament". After that, the order of the manga goes New Grappler Baki, Baki Son of Ogre, and Baki Dou.
Also, I'm pretty sure there are more chapters scanlated of the first series. Kissmanga has them up to 170. I remember someone saying Wild Fang released the next volume, but I can't find it on any online reader. They were removed on batoto.

He just needs a character with certain traits, and in this manga bringing real people works. So he goes with whatever person fits his character best.
