On the scientific level, we have no means to research and even the theories that could come into play are only beginning to see some scientific proof - namely, quantum theory gives SOME field to speculate that information in the universe is completely indestructible. That last assumption led to recent alternative theories such as how the theorized 'black holes' actually function.
The notion of indestructible, eternal state of information is potentially relevant because it can contextually come into play when discussing beliefs that entail a 'soul', however that is also a non-scientific construct, and if you ask any doctor, let alone a neurologist or psychologist about the nature of human mind, then they are likely to say that a scientific theory explaining it is what the next Noble award in the field will be rewarded for.
There seems to be a generic trend to assume that human mind, or how the believers have it - a soul, MAY be a quantum phenomenon.
On a level of faith, what happens when you die is whatever you believe in - take your pick, and remember Einstein's matrix.

1) there is a God

and two choices:
A) you believe in God
B) you don't believe
Of the four possible outcomes,
1A guarantees a win,
1B guarantees a loss,
2A is neutral because your belief doesn't matter at all
2B is neutral because your atheism also doesn't matter.
The good side is, the ONLY case where you can actually LOOSE, is the one single case where you don't believe in God but in the end find out God/higher being actually exists.

The only thing that can even compete is Mitcher route and that's just a little soured by the whole dual personalities things and how they portray it as a ghost in Kajitsu (heard it's retconned to a legit mental disorder in Rakuen). They are so close in quality it is literally just a matter of opinion and personal taste, personally as a whole I like Mitcher route better but Angelic Howl is the best arc in my opinion.
