Naota says in ep 1 that he doesn't like sour drinks, he prefers sweet ones. Because sour drinks are associated with adults, and Naota wants to be an adult, he pretends to suck it up and drink sour stuff.
At the end of ep 6 when he accepts he's still a child he goes back to openly disliking sour stuff and seems ok with it as opposed to ep 1

Naota's preference for sweet drinks instead of sour ones represents his immaturity -- the sour drinks being a metaphor for the hardship of adulthood as opposed to the sweetness of childhood.
in the first scene with the drinks, it is ironic that Naota drinks the sour drink from Mamimi (a metaphor for him accepting adulthood) because he is drinking it for reasons that only a child would understand (the indirect kiss Mamimi left on the rim). This shows that Naota's maturity is a facade and that he is still a child at heart.
In the final scene of episode 6, Eri's mirroring of Mamimi from episode 1 shows that she has achieved her own maturity and that she wants Naota to realize his maturity too. Naota is still immature (he was going to choose the sweet drink again), but is now accepting of this fact. Ironically, his acceptance of his immaturity and patience for his own growth is a sign of maturity.
One more note: Eri reveals in gym practice that she chose to discuss her true feelings with her parents and to let them see her cry -- an action associated with being childish that ironically shows her emotional maturity. Lastly, at the end of the series Eri is more mature than her male friends. This is perhaps intended to reflect the fact that girls enter puberty slightly earlier than boys.
