My Hero Academia's anime is unfortunately doing pretty mediocre ratings wise, and didn't really deliver a strong sales boost. At least not anywhere close to what was expected.
Black Clover doesn't sell a shit-ton yet, but it's ranking as well as My Hero Academia, and nobody knows how big its anime boost could be.
I hate to say it, but Black Clover could end up more popular than My Hero Academia.

Black Clover is really bad but has kinda become good-bad since the castle invasion. Nips have pretty bad taste though- it should be hanging in the middle of the pack forever where it can't bother better series but won't get outright cancelled instead of the REALLY bad series.
I decided I was okay with its existence when Yami showed up during the child kidnapping arc because he owns just that hard.
If it gets an anime it'd be best served with a gag-dub like Duel Masters- follow the plot but keep the Niggastream level dialog translation from Jaimini's Box. Yeah, fuck you, it'd be awesome. The black bulls being street-talking trash is the best thing about them.

Most of the series I read are battle shonen.
Some of my favorite reads right now are series like My Hero Academia, Hinomaru Sumo, One Piece, and Nanatsu no Taizai.
All of these series follow typical battle shonen structure.
However, they still have their own unique thing to them, and the writing isn't dogshit either. It's possible to be generic, but still be good and subtle about it.
Black Clover is just a by the numbers checklist of what a shonen manga usually looks like.
There's nothing to set it apart, it's just a collage of tropes, and shouting, and terrible writing covered up by some pretty art and panelwork.

I don't get the Yami hype though.

I remember back when it was running, there was a theory that it actually was supposed to be a parody of battle manga, but a pretty subtle one and that it just got cancelled to early to show it.
For example, the authors name translates to Cute Snot which implies a humourous pseudonym, his art resembles some popular gag manga from the late 80's iirc, and while the series was so full of ridiculous cliches and tropes it was so weird that you weren't quite sure whether it is being played totally straight.
The fact that we've seen nothing from the mangaka sense, not even a one-shot really adds credence to the theory.
