What's the correct order to watch this in and why is it broadcast order?

For the first season, it's because the actual climax takes place in chronological episode six (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Part Six). The other episodes, even though they take place chronologically after that, serve as rising action for the climax.
I've heard proposals that watching the entire series, including the movie, in chronological order preserves some aspect of the movie that is spoiled if you watch it in broadcast order.
Personally, watching the first season originally in broadcast order was amazing, way better than chronological.
