The only similarities would be that they wrote battle shonens with MCs that were super special snowflakes. Bleach arcs are hellishly long which can lead to arc fatigue if you're not captivated by it and pretty much every side character gets their 15 minutes of fame before you get to any real action of consequence which is the majority of the bloating. And fights are primarily turn based with one side gaining the upper hand for a chapter or two only for the other side to power up and turn the tables. Rinse and repeat for however many stages they need to go through before they've exhausted their arsenal.
Characters can be good/interesting. Decent amount of humor up until a certain point where it becomes super serious. A number of twists that either are laughably dumb or turn the whole series on its head and make you wonder how long it had been planned for.
Everything until the end of the Soul Society arc is really solid. Continue after that if you feel the need but realize that the Arrancar arc is longer than the intro/SS combined and often has periods where it just slows to a crawl.

Pretty much this, although I disagree on the lame character design part. It depends on taste, and for me Shunsui is one of the best male manga character I've seen design-wise.
If you want good art overall, Berserk will show you detailed backgrounds among other things. There's a difference however between weekly releases and annual releases. The worst art I have ever seen in an official public manga magazine is by far HxH. He's such a cunt for putting zero effort in, not to mention going on hiatus as much as Berserk mangaka.
