Kyoto arc are where it start to get good. In comparison, UQ had Sayoko's arc. The difference is, in Negima Akamatsu build upon Kyoto's arc, while on the other hand, Ken is pretending Sayoko's arc never happen.

There was a law being pushed at the time that would have given publishers more control over a work's copyright (like what happens in America with Marvel and DC) whereas previously it all belonged to the original creator
this would mean that the publisher would have the power to go after doujinshi creators without the author's approval, and in the extreme case after the author decides to end serialization since he doesn't own exclusive rights the publisher can hold on to it and simply continue to milk it with a new writer to make more money like how Marvel and DC put new writers on their capes and reboot them endlessly.

I felt that was complete bullshit. He was able to hold off fate for a little with the sneak attack, dont see why Kotaro would die instantly from attacking Fate when he doesnt see it coming. He's not weak, I would have been fine if he just used an excuse of not taking him out in one shot and endangering the mission. But they added to it to think he wouldnt have done harm against fate in a complete sneak attack.

Time reset only works if she can actually kill herself though, which Fate nearly managed to stop earlier in the series without even realizing what she was doing. Nodoka can read her mind and prevent her from pulling it off. The same goes for the time stop. Her powers hinge entirely on being able to perform specific actions to activate them, which is a huge weakness when there's a mind reader and people who can move fast enough to interrupt around. And then when she does get time stopped she still has to deal with Touta's "sister" being able to still fight. At first glance I would have thought her power was broken as well, but the conditions to use them make her a very bad match up for this situation.

People got hyped because of that, they wanted to know what happened, sales were good for a new series.
Then they realized UQ holder wasn't trying to be a Negima sequel but a new story, Yukihime was not Evangeline. They dropped it, sales became shit.
Because sales were shit Ken started to put Negima characters now and then, hinted stuff about Negi and made Fate appear with his homolust. BOOM people cared about the manga again.
Then... he went UQ holder again, nobody cares about that.
