Another change I remember is that in the manga they draw out his recovery a lot more. He falls into coma again a couple of times I think. In the scene where the teacher rescues him and breaks some shitter's camera, it was actually the girl he knew from his job who just happens to be there, and he falls into a coma for quite a while after that. Also I don't remember if they mention in the anime that the reason the teacher has made it so far as a politician is obviously that he murdered his way there. The manga has some bullshit line about how he only kept murdering adults after that incident, like that should make you feel better.

You just missed the whole point about the brother it wasn't just to add more shock value. It corrupted Yashiro. It taught him how to lie and deceive especially to little girls and it taught him thrill of murder and getting away with it when he killed his brother. Yashiro had psychopathic tendencies but his brother started Yashiro's descent into becoming a monster. If it wasn't for his brother Yashiro would have just killed himself because he felt empty all the time and nobody would have gotten hurt.
As for the coma, the manga handled it much more realistic and Yashiro's and Satoru's confrontation was more intense and meaningful.

So he just held on to his belief that Satoru would wake up and fill his hole again, as gay as that sounds and became so obsessed with Satoru that he murdered and fucked his way into power so that he could support the hospital Satoru was in and organized an event that would lead to his ideal murder suicide with Satoru. His whole life and decisions literally revolves around Satoru from the moment he put him in a coma.
Kayo is just a normal girl, she moved on with her life even thought she had a hard time at first. She isn't a psychopath, she accepted the fact that Satoru may never wake up and move on with her life with the help of her friends.
