I'v completed season 1 Kaiji recently and I just want to say why is this so underrated?
Now I know that the manga has more into the series and I'll end up looking into the manga after season 2.
But to get on topic on why I just feel that Kaiji should be much more popular or viewed, he'll I would say include it in your 3x3
The thought of me watching an anime about a guy in debt and trying to find a way and pay it back just seems boring but the more I watch it I keep getting into the edge of my seat and getting more scared on how the series is heading further on
I really don't want to spoil anything about this anime. I'm just surprised how underrated it is and if it wasn't for the art style, I think I wouldn't have the interest to see it.
If you guys seen it what are your thoughts?
Also would you guys give it a shot if you haven't seen it.
Ito Kaiji is probably up there for my favorite protagonist, top 3.

It's just I haven't heard a lot of people ever really just talking about it, instead they poke their nose of anime that they watched due to very explosive feedback on the internet, like SAO. I feel that a lot of people needs to see it, even just outside of /a/ and it's country.

it's not discussed often because its time has passed. it had decent ratings but didn't sell particularly well

recently watched one outs and despite not caring about it years ago while liking akagi and kaiji I think it's the best of the three

Yeah, it's great. That is generally a problem for long-running discussions though, because mainly what's being discussed are things anons can't agree on, while everybody can pretty much agree that Kaiji is not shit, great even, but that's my wishful thinking, there are people who'd rather die than admit that something is good.
It's just easier to discuss bad things, and Kaiji is mainly good.
I haven't seen anime, but I am in love with the manga, the only problem is that 3rd part of it is about mahjong and I know jack shit about mahjong. Trust me, power through the part where it's mainly explanation of rules and second half picks decently enough, especially Kaiji's keikaku.

Yeah, like one of my friends are only into animes that is super popular and/or on Toonami. Also he said that the art style drives him nuts too but I kinda like it. It kinda hits that personal feeling to me because of that's how they drew them and how they told the story with that art direction.
At the end though it's just a show that I enjoyed and I did get sad and angry at the end of season 1. It's been so long ever since I got emotional with any form of book, movie, or show.
