It has been main stream since the mid fucking 90s. Sailormoon, and DBZ mad sure of that. Not counting all the other shit played on Toonami, and Sci-fi. Akira, Robot Carnival, GitS, Grave of the Fireflies, Outlaw Starr, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL. Then even later in the early ysk on STARS they played First of the North Star, Dominion Tank Police (anime), and Patlabor.
There was so much anime in the main stream, but sadly it died out as all fads do. I blame Cartoon Network for removing the Toonami block. At least my generation tat were influenced by that are int heir late 20s, and mid 30s.
