This continues for many loops until Subaru vows to kill him, Subaru then recruits a bunch of new characters to fight the villain along with a White Whale that erases people from existence. After dying a lot they finally win and Subaru makes up with Emilia and in the conversation Emilia is like "who is Rem" and Subaru freaks out and realizes that rem's soul was erased and no one remembers her. He commits suicide and Respawns in his talk with Emilia. He kills himself over and over until he finally realizes he can't save Rem

She didn't just abandon him like that. He and her got into argument after the duel with Julius. She cut tries with him afterward (think of her telling him to take a time out) but not before sending to Crush's place for his treatment.
The issue was he lost the duel or anything but that he broke promise he made with her to not get involved in the election. As Spirit User, promises are same forming a contract to them, so breaking them is big to them.
He repairs their relationship with her after the White Whale battle.

Emilia breaks completely once she sees his body. She repeatedly calls Subaru's name while also screaming "Liar!". In-between sobs, it's revealed that the "Liar" part is referring to the fact that Subaru broke his promise of always staying by her side.
Wilhelm is very devastated when he sees Subaru's body.
Sloth possesses Subaru
While keeping Sloth trapped inside, Subaru dies a very gruesome death. His neck is slashed open if I remember right. In this end, everyone on the battlefield takes a moment to mourn him since he acted like a true hero. As expected, Emilia is unable to accept the fact that Subaru died. Slowly approaching Subaru's body, she starts to cry as the truth starts to set in. She wipes his face clean while repeatedly asking why he had to died. No one in the area has the heart to answer her.
Subaru's first suicide
Beatrice cries when she realizes that Subaru really did kill himself. While muttering under her breath, tears fall out of her eyes as she is unable to believe that Subaru really is gone. Her mind basically shuts down.
As for Ram, she is also unable to make sense of what just happened. In her anger, she tries to question Beatrice but stops when she sees her crying on the ground near Subaru's body. The scene ends with Ram glaring at Subaru's dead body. She spits out a sigh while wondering out loud why Subaru confessed his love to her and Rem.

In this one, we find out that Pack basically killed everyone in the area once he found out that Emilia died by Elsa's hands.
