After the S1 finale it's either retcons for the anime continuity or changes in relation to the manga. For example in the manga the bigger the titan the hotter it is, with Hot Rod being the hottest, able to set flames to things he touched, and Bert can emit large amounts of hot steam. That correlation doesn't exist in the anime since RT was on flames in the finale.
Most likely there will be more changes in characterization, and I guess I wouldn't mind it this time around. Like in the anime with some shipper goggles you could quite easily see Eren being in love with Mikasa or some shit, what with him calming down whenever she holds his hand, and the times he's angry with her could also be chalked up to him being all immature and tsundere about his feelings for her. But there are no such moments in the manga, so their relationship in both versions is already pretty different-might as well continue with the alternative development route.
At least if they continue making changes fags might stop saying the anime is a near exact adaptation.
