Madoka. Regardless if Madoka returns Homura's feelins or not, Madoka Magica is 12 episodes and a movie of Homura trying to save her beloved. There is zero chance the sequel will be any less gay and it might even just go full yuri.

I don't remember that, more like he's trying to protect and empower Shinji but not doing things himself.
Homura and Shinji are similar in which they were both people with low self-esteem, who found someone that made them feel important and developed a sense of dependency toward them.
The difference being that Shinji didn't have time powers to go back and attempt to change things - which, going by his personality, he could very well have done.
