The issue is that her development, especially when you get to the tournament was basically the "development" that made Kuririn and Yamcha want to stop fighting, but coming much quicker.
She learns that she's nothing compared to the actual strong people and that all her training is useless against the monsters that appear. Originally, filler had kept her going as comic relief, but it's not surprising that Toriyama's actual take basically made her like a female version of Buu Saga Yamcha, only married. She wasn't even fighting in the epilogue tournament anyway, so I don't see why this is surprising. People got too used to her filler self.

The only other possibility is that she comes back as a ghost, but I can only think of one other instance of that happening in DB. Usually spirits don't linger, but maybe it's something to do with Black.

Dragon Ball Super is currently set in the year 780. 780-758=22; 22/5=4.4. The number of Gatchans has doubled four times since the two future chapters of Dr. Slump. Therefore, the current population of Gatchans should be at 8*2^4=128

The timelines don't make sense. Trunks went back to the past @ yr 764 when he was 18 @ yr 784. He comes back to the future 1 year later @ yr 785, he was 20 years old thanks to htc. He kills Cell @ yr 788. In Super, Trunks said he was going 17 years in the past to meet his old friends. The events of DBS occurs @ yr 780. That would make him around 40 years old. Disregarding Trunks and his saiyan heritage, Mai looks like she's in her teens/20s. Even Bulma didn't age much considering all the stress she had from being hunted down by Black and eating only catfood.

Trunks is born in Age 766, then uses his time machine in Age 784: so he's 18 at this stage.
He goes back to 764, but doesn't stay there long and goes straight to 767. The Android and Cell sagas take place within that year, and when you factor in the Room of Spirit and Time then only 2 years at most could've passed for Trunks - putting him at around 20 years of age. After all this, he goes back to Age 785 and kills the Androids.
If Super takes place in Age 780, then Future Trunks is currently in Age 797. That means 12 years have passed since he returned to the future to kill the Androids, and if he was 20 then he can only be 32 now.
