This is my favorite rumiko series because it has the best parts of all her series characters and sakura VA sounds like she's taking heavy tranquilizers in every scene.
That one time in the haunted house episode that she actually screamed it was still a tranquil scream.

Nothing fundamental, it's just executed better. The first season, the first half in particular, had some real problems with maintaining momentum.
