Guts can be edgy and lack intellect, and lived most of his life killing, but I don't think he would RUIN EVERYTHING for EVERYONE because he couldn't accept losing a duel.

Before the eclipse Griffith loved power for power's sake. He lived a poor childhood and was born without status or privilege in a society where such is strictly regulated by birth. Yeah that's not fair, sure. But I fail to see how he's different from any of the nobles he ousted other than being more intelligent, cunning, and realistic because he knows the reality of human existence when you take away the frills of nobility.
His subordinates in the band of the hawk loved him and followed him, but the excuse that, "they were prepared to die for his dream in battle, and their deaths at the eclipse was essentially the same thing" is shit.
Guts is a gloomy brute, but he understands (as he explained in the campfire scene) that people can have their own hopes and dreams, even while being loyal to someone. The big mistake everyone made was that ultimately Griffith didn't deserve their loyalty, though his string of successes made that hard to see.

Not really, he was charismatic and the Band of Falcon wanted to have him as a leader when they saw Griffith couldn't do that anymore, right before the Eclipse. And he did party a few times with his buddies, like in the bonfire of dreams chapter. If anything, his "social anxiety" or whatever dumbass on /a/ call it is just him being reluctant to get close to people after being raped as a child and forced to kill since he was like 8.

Guts only said he had to go search for his dream. It meant peacefully leaving the Falcons after having finished his job and making them strong enough to be on top.
Griffith pursuing his dream meant sacrificing everyone who worked under him to a bunch of abominations so they could be horribly killed and go suffering in hell for all eternity.
And let's not forget Griffith caused the death of thousands of member of the Falcon band by irresponsibly fucking the princess and spitting on the king when he came to ask what was going on.
