The concepts are connected, but each story in itself can be read singularly for the most part. Its kind of like Jojo's basically.
Jojo's seems daunting, but really its split up into eight smaller things when you look closely.

Its hard to say how required they are, but Foxtail is a another route of CCC basically. Its like "What if CCC... but slightly different in the first few days causes everything to change" kind of like the three routes of F/SN are "What if..., but slightly different happens in the first few days causes everything to change". The concepts, characters, and other things are all inline with CCC anyway.

I watched the DEEN FSN, I immersed myself into the VN, I read the F/Z LN, and I've seen the adaptions that have aired since then including Carnival Phantasm and Prisma Loli Fanservice. I even got Unlimited Codes for my PSP after playing it in a Japanese arcade during my pilgrimage. I have a Lancer fig and a Rin fig.
I have no further interest in Fate. I'm done with this shit. Looking at stuff like the old VNs and Kara no Kyoukai in comparison with newer stuff from Nasu and TM leads to the conclusion that there is nothing more to hope for from them. Even things that are just others using the properties, I don't care. There's too much excess shit and none of it has any worth except as fanservice.
Just give us the HF movies and then stop. Forever.

Its like BB, but with more sadism, where as regular BB is more playful sadistic. At first it seemed like this was just BB in the manga, but then real BB showed up and the mystery deepens.
BB is like Nasuverse Beatrice. Either version of BB though is a being that is far beyond servants in power at least. Regular BB is a bit more human in nature, while the gothic BB has a bit more dead looking eyes most of the time.

Normally BB is a character who's arrogance and attitude might rival even Gilgamesh, with her ability to steal the show.

English translations of Nasu are extremely bad and basically don't resemble his actual writing style at all. Fate in particular is incredibly literal and stiff, delivering neither a faithful adaptation of the original nor pleasing English prose. And thus my writing this entire post is pointless because you have to know Japanese to actually discuss this topic intelligently.
TakaJun simply isn't good at conveying ideas in English and he falls short when it comes to adapting Japanese wording in general, so nothing he's worked on is really worth reading in English by my standards. Especially not Swan Song, which he pretty much butchered. I have nothing against the guy personally, mind you, I just think his translations could use... let's just say, quite a bit of work before they're something I'd recommend reading, at least as an indicator of the original writer's prose.
Also, ignoring translation debates for a second, let me just say this: There are hundreds of VNs worth playing that will never be translated, so anyone who really enjoys the medium should learn Japanese either way. It's really not as hard as people make it out to be, and you'll have so much fun in the process! Seriously, Japanese is awesome, everyone should learn it.
