129I wonder if there even is a point to post a review this late? Sorry… But hey, chapter “828 - 1 and 2″ was yet another chapter that had me conflicted. All in all I liked it, and I really can’t tell where Oda is taking the plot. However there were definitely things I didn’t like either. Obviously there will be spoilers!
Of course the chapter starts of with the Strawhats reacting to Purin being THAT Purin…
I still don’t know how they didn’t but two and two together when they learned her name. (I’ve overestimated Nami’s brain I think.) It seems like the boy’s are all dressed in Arabian inspired clothes, so I guess that goes with the Aladdin theme. Luffy with a turban on his hat just looks stupid though.
And Chopper just keeps on eating that table throughout the whole chapter… ^^’‘‘ HOW can he still eat? And he continues to eat throughout the chapter too…. He really loves those sweets.
So, Purin seems confused and a little panicked, and Pedro is being violent but otherwise quite sensible if I’m honest. They can’t trust Purin yet, and I know I don’t.
I feel like if Purin is trying to lure them into a trap then at least Nami should be able to figure out that the Vivre card might be their ticket to the right place. I’m guessing the next chapter will let us know how that will go down.
Then they start talking about the marriage, and we also get pretty much confirmation that Lola is Purin’s sister. Nami seems to notice too. And then we also learn that Big Mom in fact has 85 children in total. I have no idea HOW that is possible, but maybe it’s part of some devil’s fruit power? With the huge Big Mom family and the VInsmokes this arc seems to be a lot about blood family, in comparison to basically every other arc in One Piece thus far where blood isn’t what makes a family.
Then Chopper gets to another point as he asks Purin if she’s met Sanji and she has once… And of course she’s completely smitten with him.

But yeah, I agree with what many fans have been saying and that it seems weird that she describes Sanji based on the wanted poster and information about him that is already known by the world, like him being a chef and being weak/sweet in regards to women. The background, besides the flowers, also feels more ominous than sweet. It’s all very difficult to decipher the true meaning behind Oda’s storytelling at the moment. At the same time it does seem kind of genuine? So I don’t know… I’ll just leave it to Oda.
And everyone loves Sanji! But Nami’s action is interesting. Not only does she ask Purin if she’s fallen for Sanji already, but she also looks quite stressed by that thought. But then Purin decides to help them and even says “I can still forget about Sanji” and it really does seem very convinent to get a map and also having Purin hand deliver Sanji to them. Especially since we know that Big Mom knows that they are already on their territory. She also explains more about the wedding and how they are all expected to marry but she never knew who and how that person would be. And along
It’s definitely on purpose that Oda is deciding to give a single reaction panel to Nami, but if that means anything in regards to her feelings about Sanji I don’t know. But it’s interesting either way, because Oda has constantly used Nami to push this arc and given her special attention when it comes to Sanji’s situation.
It’s also facinating that the pictures of Sanji are drawn as silhouettes. It makes it seem more like a story or a dream than a memory. The background in the image below is again not a normal choice for a romantic background, but I don’t know if it’s relevant or not. I hate the fact that he says “I really want to marry you.“ if it turns out to be true that he said that. I know many feel as if this is a good moment for Sanji’s character that he turns her down, but it just doesn’t feel right to me.
