Flying Witch is special because it's very restrained and subdued. It takes its time and progresses really slowly, hitting a few comedy notes without letting that dominate the otherwise conversational feel. That helps it feel more immersive because the characters seem to behave more like people than like comedy tropes.
ARIA was just characters spouting their one-liners, meeting one-shot/not recurrent characters and you are supposed to feel anything about them? What a complete waste of a setting.
