All things LOGH
Are the movies any good?
>>142495740
I thought they were great. The second one is basically just a shorter version of the first few episodes, but it's much better than those episodes.
Any news about the remakes?
I bought the first novel now that it has been translated.
I've been largely unimpressed, it takes an extremely passive voice throughout the entire thing and doesn't really understand show, not tell.
It feels like a 300 page prologue so who knows maybe the future novels will get better. Also there was a spelling mistake on one page due to fat finger cmon man.
>>142496005
Why is he the best character in the show?

NO
ONE
Daily reminder that Fleet Admiral Paul von Oberstein did absolutely nothing wrong.
Ive actually sorta warmed up to the idea of a remake. Started a rewatch of the series a couple days ago and boy is the animation quality, voice acting, and sound mixing more than iffy in a lot of parts. Stuff like things that could be shown in more detail (mainly space battles and formations) not shown because of budget restraints of the time.
Nowadays these are mostly nonissues, outside of typical QUALITY shit. For the remake to be genuinely good though it'd have to understand that its a space opera above all else, and not over indulge in over the top action sequences and CG. The artwork of the original is fantastic so I'm not going to act like the remake would be anything but a massive step down in that area.
This is all under the hope that its not fujobait garbage like the current manga, but rather a true attempt at a remake.
Whats your guys's thoughts on it?
Does it even have a chance at being good?

My Conquest is the Sea of Stars: The first conflict between Reinhard and Yang. It's the starting point of the story and has some nice battles and strategy in it, so it's definitely worth watching.
Overture to a New War: Remake of the first two episodes with improved direction and budget. I'd recommend new viewers to watch it instead of the first two episodes, as you're actually given reason to care about Lap and the other characters here unlike the drab beginning of the OVA series.
Golden Wings: Absolute shit. It's basically like the new manga (i.e. terribly drawn fujoshi-pandering shit) in anime form, and the events of it are only ever referenced in a single frame of the Gaiden series, so there's no real point to watching it. It's a complete blemish upon the series, so stay clear of it for sure.
Tried watching these because all of the "muh greatest animo of all times" posts but ended up dropping it by episode 7 because of all the retarded "tactics" they useAlso the animation was bad and the OST was just your average space opera OST with classical music to make you think you're watching something smart
>>142495740
I've watched the series but not any of the movies, how many are there?
>>142498601
Anon, if you wanted a (you) you could've just asked for it.
Here you go, don't spend it all in one place.
>>142498601
>>142499669
never forget
truly one of the greatest character of the show
>>142498392
>terribly drawn fujoshi-pandering shit in anime form
So, entirety of LoGH?
>>142496049
>>142496101
I really shouldn't have introduced my alcoholic friends to this show.
Do you think they'll get Ryō Horikawa back as Reinhard? He's still doing Vegeta.
>>142498601
I disagree with you.
>>142499928
I like him because his voice is Amuro Rey's
>>142498601
It's easier to show a character being a genius by making everyone else incompetent.
>>142501257
This. Unless you don't want to abide by 'show, not tell' then your writer basically has to be at least marginally as smart as the characters they create. Tanaka knows jack shit other than wizards in black robes casting low tier magic.
>>142501257
Yeah, but they ultimately run out of retarded admirals and then we get shit like Reinhard vs Yang full fleet battles and what not.
>>142497439
The whole ordeal with the nukes is debatable.
Besides that 100% based.
>>142501257
Ah its not that bad, the characters at least have some sort of reasonable motive for them to act the way they are.
>>142501257
Actually that's pretty realistic when you think about how many retarded people our measly 7 billion people contains.
Think about how many retards would exist in the total population of LotGH
>>142496788
He's honest with himself.
How can a single man do so much right and no wrong at all?
I wonder if a counterpart of this exists for the imperial side.
>>142496645
I just hope it's not based on the new manga.
>>142495398
What is love?
>>142504572
That is a fucking abomination...
>>142503888
Practically none of those would be in power without nepotism, which makes them the minority, nor majority. No matter how terrible the likes of Trump, Bernie, of Hillary are, they won't even come close to the likes of Andrew Fork.
It hat important moments.
>>142504841
I think Fork didn't even get where he did because of nepotism as much as because FPA is in a fucked up state and everyone went along with his FEEL GOOD plan without thinking about it. Empire's military, on the other hand, is full of nepotism, and cronyism which explains why they're so inept even though they have technological and numerical advantage. Entire Empire's military structure, during the time of the show at least, is apparently held together by couple of very experienced old figures who know their shit. Unsurprisingly they back out once Reinhard begins to take over because they see he has the skill and talent.
>>142504572
wait is he wearing glasses? because those are some fucking huge eyes if he isn't. and that hat is a joke.
>>142504929
That's my point. Our world has enough standards that it requires nepotism to let someone who would royally fuck shit up into a position of power.
LOGH isn't, every side, and I mean EVERY SIDE is incompetent one way or the other. To put it another way, George Bush Jr. can easily lead the Empire to victory over the FPA just not as fast as Reinhardt and because he has an ugly mug so his cabinet won't be gay for him.
It wouldn't matter if he was inferior to Reinhardt. First of all, he wouldn't listen to Oberstein cause the idea of disarming weapons doesn't play well to the guy, so Kircheis would still be alive, and well there you go.
Kircheis would totally be wiping his ass for the rest of the series, but Bush would still beat Yang eventually cause FPA and black robed wizards on crack will do the rest.
Course Bush also has a high chance of dying and then Kircheis would take over, but ultimately either way the Empire wins.
>>142505043
Those are his eyes, he isn't wearing any eye modifiers.
Also say hello to Kircheis.
>>142504929
There was multiple reasons.
>Fork was a valedictorian at officer school so folks thought he was smart and not just a great parrot
>Government decides to launch aggression due to political climate being against them and them hoping that a victory would get them re-elected
>Forks plan gets chosen because the whole military has been against dispatch due to them being on their last leg and nobody having any real plans
>Forks plan was thus the only plan and gets picked up by default, also Lobos liked his energetic way of speaking
>>142495398
So, blu-ray or laserdisc?
>>142505524
Laserdisc if you want 100% old style with all the charm and cracks.
Blu-Ray if you want some parts re-drawn in 2000's OVA style. Like here >>142496049
The text on banners and screens always cracked me up. Especially if you're German, because you "get" a lot more of these.

It's bürgerlich. Look at the right sign that says something about protecting USA.
>>142506143
That's probably what they were going for. "Ärgerlich" was just the first thing I extrapolated.
I just realized that I have a lot fewer of these saved than i had hoped.
>The success
are the two ova series worth watching? I finished the 110 episode main ova last year
>>142506821
Not as good as the original series, but watchable. If you stuck around for the whole 110 episodes, chances are you liked it enough to find some joy in watching the Gaidens.
>>142506821
They're mostly low key fucking around with tons of cameos from people who become relevant in the main series. Though it does also have Schonkopf vs Kircheis.
>>142505089
Rodrigo Duterte
>>142506821
The gaidens are a bit oddly constructed, possibly due to their release order being a bit wonky.
They go through the times when Reinhard adn Yang joined army, go through their motivations and then their early military career till the time somewhat prior to the first movie.
They have more variety on stuff that happens, having stuff like a duel, tank commanding, commanding a single ship deep inside enemy space and other stuff.
Post more quotes.

What about a remaster ala dragonball super?
That could work.
>>142496788
Most brilliant tactician in the show.
>>142510026
Cut more than half of the show off?
In dragon ball z i could understand it due to several episode long powering up sequences, but i don't think Logh would benefit from that.
>>142510194
Where did the coffee stain go?
>>142510062
Not really. But what I enjoyed about Bittenfeld is that he is only superficially simple-minded. Calling him sophisticated is a stretch, but he has more brains and calculatio than your average shoot-first-think-later goon.
