My animu backlog isn't too big because I've been able to keep up with 90% of what has interested me the last ten years. Unfortunately, my vita backlog is about 1000 hours of gametime, and there's 10 games either recently released or coming out this summer that I plan on buying.

Hey hey, just so you know, it's a Muv Luv title, along with Total Eclipse (which you should also put on the list), and if SM is immensely disappointing, don't worry because most everyone hated the anime.
Muv Luv is primarily a VN series so bear that in mind. On top, the Schwarzesmarken anime basically butchered and changed tons of the source material. But by all means, it's a good into to the universe.
You will get hooked.

I just watched the first episode of White Album 2 recently and was inclined to insta drop based on that bland Mary Sue girl. Is it worth watching for someone who isn't attracted to women and doesn't like teenage romance anime? I get the impression it's one of those series straightfags like for the waifus and the self insertion but if it has good development I would give it another chance.

Depends on how fast you watch. One of the benefits of keeping track of your backlog on Excel is that if you know your average anime-watching rate and how many new series you watch per season, you can calculate roughly how long it would take.
