He gave the actual reason for his strength: hard work and determination. Coming up with something that would make sense (in this context anyway) would ruin the series because it's not supposed to make sense.

There's probably some bullshit reason like he doesn't want to be the strongest, he only wants to sacrifice everything for the good of others as a hero they can admire and emulate.
Saitama isn't exactly a great role model, he can just punch the shit out of threats. Mumen Rider doesn't want that, and if Mumeh Rider wasn't 100% human he wouldn't be able to be the hero he is.

"Gamma rays" was good enough for Hulk. "Transistors" was good enough for Iron Man. "Alien" was good enough for Superman and Goku. Why the FUCK do you think "training everyday for three years" is not enough f a good reason?
Don't forget that just like Hulk's Gamma Rays, to actually follow Saitama's training to the letter would literally kill you. So it makes sense that if you can survive the impossible, you had to be a superhuman.
