It took me two tries to make it through this show. The first time I watched five episodes, then dropped it. A couple years later, I watched it straight through, and was glad I did.
There are two timeskips. I forget when they occur in the episode count, but I'd watch at least until the first one, and if you're still not feeling it, drop it.

Right after the gayest scene. Though I liked from the start, Maria best girl.
I think it's very good right from the start, the setting is interesting and the world building is really well-done. The music was also really fucking good which helped with the atmosphere. I might be biased though, SSY is one of my favorite shows ever.
