I miss these times. Even when the anime was shit, at least it went SOMEWHERE with the story it was telling. Modern anime doesn't even seem to do that half the time, often forgetting elements of its own story it previously introduced even in the same episode or introducing elements that later get dismissed as trivial. Like "oh, why did we worry about that, we have our friendship! Lets smile against all those bad things!" kind of garbage resolution to some drama.
For example, I remember when there was tension between Mio and Ritsu and it seemed to come out of nowhere or just something small as over a bass guitar, and then at the end it just sorta got swept under the rug, and I was like, what the fuck was the point of that in the first place?
That kind of shit is why I miss anime of the past.
