and when i say met, i lived in a county that merged several different communities and cultures from surrounding counties, so there were many different races there, not just one or two of each. Man time sure has flew by since this arc started. Felt like nothing has happen while at the same time a shit load of stuff has happened since then.

Ichigo has been using Shinigami powers the whole time, since Rukia awakened them, it's just that Mini Yhwach AKA Old Man Zangetsu has been suppressing that power as much as possible, even going as far to admit that the power Ichigo has been using up until now has been but a small portion of the power he couldn't contain.
Ichigo has not been using quincy powers, or bootlegged shinigami powers, his power was legit but relegated to his bare minimum.

Tensa Zangetsu is likely not his true, full Bankai. But it will be along the same line as the sword/katana were creations of Zangetsu/White. It will go down similar to Renji's new bankai.
