It's very easy to interpret that another way.
Hisoka is in a situation where he's very likely to die (absolutely true), therefore he decides to use something (a new technique, or a risky plan) that has a chance to kill him to get out of that situation.

Chrollo mercilessly throwing people from the audience, looking for the cheapest and most efficient way to win. Hisoka's nonchalant reaction at losing a foot, and accepting his impending doom before setting up a new trick. Both characters are behaving according as how they have been written and are displaying the characteristic that makes them so likeable and loved. I feel bad for those who can't enjoy this as much as I do.
