the fate route is very slow but the ending was pretty good. UBW is a lot faster and solves much of the issues the fate route suffers. HF takes it at moments even slower than the fate route but the ending is pretty fast and it was a few nice extra parts that never got touched upon earlier.

The full value of "Fate", turns around its lore, the "alleged mythology"and the various alternatives.
Personally, I started to appreciate Fate, only after knowing all three routes. If you take them individually, Night, UWB, or HF none of the three really shines, however, once all together, things improves significantly.

See, the truth of the entire thing was that the war didn't matter in the end. People were tricked by system if greed for centuries. That was the main point of Fate, a system gone out of control and corruption in society.
The whole idea of 'there can be only one' that people cling to is what is actually cliche. Ironically, when you look at comments on the fanfiction and, people say that the idea of making alternative storylines in the multiverse with the narrative focus being on a grail war is stale. However, people still make create a servant ideas and make stories based on grail wars despite finding the idea stale.
So while the lore is indeed very interesting for Fate, and the whole Nasuverse, it tends be overshadowed by "create your own war" discussions. I remember a quite interesting conversation about how Sakura's powers could be used turned into another Iskandar vs. Medusa whiteroom versus discussion.

I like it for this. Instead of being the usual Pokémon tournament , the thing is much more complicated and when you find out that the Grail was corrupted and all the messes that result, the story takes a nice climax. Fate Stay night meant to be final war of a long magical mess.
But, seriously, dont be an angry just because people love to talk more about topics that you find boring. Frankly it seems to me quite normal that people are more interesting to talk about hypothetical war and servants compared to magic techniques in naru verse.
